Silver hit with new charges

A superseding indictment filed Thursday against former speaker of the New York State Assembly, Sheldon Silver, charged him with making illegal investments through private vehicles. U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara claims that Silver made $750,000 through a private investment that was not available to the public, using the money that he obtained through illegal kickbacks, Capital New York reported.
